Waste Transfer Station Attendant

Casual | Based at Tailem Bend

 

As a Waste Transfer Station Attendant, you will be the friendly face that helps our community manage its waste safely and responsibly. Your primary role includes overseeing the daily operations of the transfer station, ensuring everything runs smoothly, and providing excellent customer service. Plus, you’ll play a vital role in promoting environmentally friendly practices!

About the position:

  • Work just two days a week – perfect balance with other commitments – Wednesday and Sunday (these days are non-negotiable).
  • Managing the safe operation of the transfer station and directing traffic with a smile.
  • Inspecting incoming loads to ensure they follow all disposal regulations.
  • Handling cash transactions and issuing receipts.
  • Helping customers off-load their recyclable materials and ensuring everything is sorted correctly.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness, including collecting windblown litter to keep our site looking great.

About you:

We’re seeking someone who is approachable, enthusiastic, and ready to roll up their sleeves! You should have:

  • A knack for exceptional customer service and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Good communication skills to interact with a wide range of people.
  • A commitment to safety and the environment
  • A current ‘Class C’ South Australian driver’s license and a First Aid Certificate (or be willing to get one).
  • Experience dealing with the public, knowledge of waste management practices, and a willingness to learn more.
