The Coorong District Council is seeking a skilled and motivated Patrol Grader Operator to join our Roads & Infrastructure team based at the Coonalpyn Depot.

This is a specialised role responsible for maintaining and improving Council's extensive unsealed road network across the district. Working independently across remote locations, you will play a vital role in ensuring roads remain safe, accessible and serviceable for residents, businesses and visitors.

About the Role

Reporting to the Coordinator Roads, you will:

  • Undertake patrol grading and maintenance of Council's unsealed road network.
  • Assess road conditions and identify maintenance requirements.
  • Operate specialised grading equipment and associated plant safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine plant inspections and maintenance.
  • Work autonomously across remote locations while maintaining accurate records and reporting road conditions.
  • Contribute to a strong safety culture and positive customer service outcomes.

 

What You'll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience operating graders and heavy plant.
  • Sound knowledge of road construction and maintenance practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently in remote and isolated environments.
  • Work Zone Traffic Management accreditation and White Card.
  • Current HC Driver's Licence (highly desirable).
