Coorong Assessment Panel | Expression of Interest for Independent Members (Four vacant positions)

The Coorong District Council is seeking expressions of interest from members of the public to fill four vacant positions (vacant as of 31 July 2026), being one Presiding Member and three Independent Members on the Coorong Assessment Panel (CAP).

The CAP is responsible for assessing a range of Development Applications against the provisions of the Planning and Design Code as a relevant authority under the provisions of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.

Meetings are currently held on an as-needs basis at the Coorong Civic Centre, Tailem Bend. A copy of the current Terms of Reference for the CAP is available on Council's website.

Applicants are required to be Accredited Professionals under the provisions of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016, as detailed the in Accredited Professionals Scheme on the SA Planning Portal. Applicants should have a reasonable knowledge of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016, as it relates to development assessment.

As a guide, it is anticipated that the Independent Members will come from the fields of urban planning, architecture, landscaping, building/construction, surveying, engineering, environmental planning or similar.

Council will select the Presiding Member from the successful independent applicants; applicants should indicate whether they wish to be considered for this role.

Sitting fees will be paid ($600 for Presiding Member and $400 for Independent Members) to cover time involved in preparing for and attending meetings.
